We call all groups and individuals who to support the struggle for self-government of peoples and gender liberation to join!
The killing of Jina Amini by the Iranian regime triggered heavy uprisings, which spread from the kurdish womens' resistance to all parts and peoples of the country. Since nearly 3 weeks, and in spite of fierce repression, killings, and massakers, people rise up to protest oppression of gender and ethnicity, the regimes total control over every aspect of life, economic oppression, the attacks on the universities and crack downs on labor struggles.
The prevalent slogan Jin Jiyan Azadi (Woman, Life, Freedom) of the kurdish freedom movement unifies the diversity of resistance. It recognizes the roots of the regime's oppression in the patriarchal power system and fights for freedom as the control over and communal self-government of life. The Iranian regime is one example of male-dominated power systems, which escalate their misogynistic policies, and sustain male violence, rape and oppression with the support of governments. The murder of the Armenian woman Anush Abetyan is the product of similar reactionary mentalities. Another example is the assassination of the Kurdish activist, Nagehan Akarsel, who was also on the Jineology committee and was an editor for a women's rights magazine, on October 4th in Iraq, Sulaymaniyah town. Working for women's rights for 25 years, Akarsel's biggest goal and work was a women's library to be established in the region. The threats point to the Turkish intelligence service.
The resistance of Woman, Life, Freedom attacks local dictators as well as imperialist capitalism. This struggle will not be fought through by western intervention or solved by a new regime. It is a struggle from below, and it is organised in neighborhoods, universities, workplaces, by women and by the youth of various ethnicities and backgrounds. On this basis, we say no to imperialist forces and their dirty plans, and no to the fascist and sexist regimes of local dictators.
We call all individuals and groups to protest with us, to organize in your neighborhoods, communities and collectives to support the self-governance of peoples, an anti-capitalist organising of life and womens liberation!
