Την Πέμπτη 3/7 στις 21.00 στην Πλατεία των Προσφυγικών (Κούζη & Βεγορίτιδος) θα προβληθεί το ντοκιμαντέρ "Harvest of Empire: The untold story of Latinos in America".

Ένα ισχυρό ντοκιμαντέρ που αποκαλύπτει την άμεση σχέση μεταξύ της μακράς ιστορίας της αμερικανικής παρέμβασης στη Λατινική Αμερική και της μεταναστευτικής κρίσης που αντιμετωπίζουμε σήμερα. Από τις εδαφικές επεκτατικές πολιτικές που αποδεκάτισαν τις νεαρές οικονομίες του Μεξικού, του Πουέρτο Ρίκο και της Κούβας, μέχρι τις μυστικές επιχειρήσεις που επέβαλαν καταπιεστικά στρατιωτικά καθεστώτα στη Δομινικανή Δημοκρατία, τη Γουατεμάλα, τη Νικαράγουα και το Ελ Σαλβαδόρ, το Harvest of Empire παρέχει μια αμείλικτη ματιά στις ρίζες της αυξανόμενης λατινοαμερικάνικης παρουσίας στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες. Προσαρμοσμένη από το βιβλίο-ορόσημο που έγραψε ο δημοσιογράφος Juan Gonzalez, η ταινία αφηγείται την ιστορία ενός επικού ανθρώπινου έπους που είναι σε μεγάλο βαθμό άγνωστο στη μεγάλη πλειονότητα των πολιτών στις ΗΠΑ, αλλά πρέπει να γίνει μέρος της εθνικής μας συζήτησης για τη μετανάστευση.

At Thursday 3/7 at 21.00 at the Square of Prosfygika (Kouzi & Vegoritidos) the documentary "Harvest of Empire: The untold story of Latinos in America" will be screened.

The description of the documentary:

A powerful documentary that reveals the direct link between the long history of US intervention in Latin America and the migration crisis we face today. From the territorial expansionist policies that decimated the fledgling economies of Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Cuba, to the covert operations imposed by oppressive military regimes in the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and El Salvador, Harvest of Empire provides a relentless look at the roots of the growing Latin American presence in the United States. Adapted from the landmark book written by journalist Juan Gonzalez, the film tells the story of an epic human epic that is largely unknown to the vast majority of citizens in the United States, but must become part of our national conversation about immigration.
