FREE KINO - Abu Zeinab (2016) + Souha, Surviving Hell (2001)

🔻📽️🎞️🇱🇧: On Tuesday, July 15th the Free Kino inaugurates it's new series 'Lebanon is Your Vietnam,' focusing on the continuing struggle for Lebanese national liberation from US-Zionist occupation and de-development - organized in light of the recent 25th anniversary of the armed liberation of South Lebanon, spearheaded by the revolutionary action of Hiz-b-ollah.

With the continuing holocaust in Gaza and recent reports of a coordinated plan for the dismemberment of Lebanon by the Zionists and puppet Jolani regime, this screening is intended to shed some necessary light on Hiz-b-ollah, Lebanon's struggle for popular sovereignty, and the country's interconnections with Palestine in the larger regional movement against western imperialism.

Our first night, under the theme "Memories from Khiam Prison," will feature dramatic and documentary accounts centered on the torture camp at Khiam - liberated in 2000, though later destroyed by the "Israelis" during their failed terror invasion six years later (the martyr Seyyed Hassan Nas-rall-ah's 'Divine Victory').

Inherited from French colonial authorities, the Israelis would utilize the prison - in coordination with their Christian proxy South Lebanon Army - during its nearly twenty year occupation of Lebanon (1982-2000), imprisoning and torturing thousands of Lebanese and Palestinians.

Our first film is Abu Zeinab (2016) from Iranian director Ali Ghaffari. The award-winning Lebanese production chronicles the 1985 Metula martyrdom operation of Amer Kalakesh and the grassroots struggle of the nascent Hiz-b-ollah movement. As the Zionists and their proxy death squad South Lebanon Army (SLA) search for accomplices of Kalakesh, many members of his family are imprisoned at the torture camp, but remain steadfast in their resistance to the occupiers.

Following this, at 10:05 PM, will be Souha, Surviving Hell (2001), a documentary from Randa Chahal Sabbag on Souha Bechara, revolutionary operative of the Lebanese Community Party (LCP) who was imprisoned at 18 years old in Khiam following her attempted assassination of Antoine Lahad, leader of the traitorous SLA. Interviews are also conducted with Palestinian freedom fighter Kifah Afifi, survivor of the Zionist-Phalange massacres at Sabra and Chatila; who was imprisoned in Khiam for 7 years after fighting the occupation.

Both films are in Arabic language with English subtitles.
